Bob Marley knew it already in 1971. Sun power has immense advantages. It
makes us dynamic and cheerful, but it is also one giant source of energy. As a
constructor of hangars, we know very well how much energy it takes to produce
an industrial building. For this reason Frisomat invests in an installation of
6.000 solar panels.
A sustainable industrial
building
Since Frisomat started in 1978, ecology
and sustainability have always been important
keywords. Early 2011 will be a landmark, and probably one of the most
significant ! As of then, each prefabricated hangar will be produced by means
of 100% green electricity.
To manufacture a hangar, a big production machinery is needed. Frisomat
disposes of a 35.000m² production environment, which is fully covered. Why not
use this – at first sight useless – surface to contribute significantly to the
environment.
Total length of 5km
10.000m² of the Frisomat factory building will be covered with 6.000
polycrystalline solar panels. The hangar is perfectly oriented southwards. The
solar panels are assembled on the inclined roof of the production hangar, which
only benefits the efficiency.
The last few years, there has been a lot of fuzz about solar energy,
probably you know each advantage and disadvantage by heart. But why exactly
polycrystalline panels ?

The annual capacity is estimated at 1.400.000 kilowatt-peak, which
corresponds to the annual energy consumption of approximately 400 households. The
emission of 372 tonnes CO2 is avoided, comparable to a 53a forest with 16.000
trees. As of the 1st of January 2011, Frisomat will entirely switch
over to solar energy. During the construction holidays, the electricity is
injected into the grid. Not a single electron will be lost !
One last tip before you
proceed your quest for a hangar
Frisomat draws at full speed the card for renewable energy, but it
doesn’t stop here. Real green energy is the energy you don’t consume.
A few energy-saving tips :

lights in time
- don’t keep
electric appliances on “stand-by”
- defrost
your freezer frequently
- buy
low-energy light bulbs
- use the eco
programme for your dishwasher and washer
- dry your
clothes outside
- close
windows and doors if you are heating your house
- turn off
the heater at night
- take
shorter showers
- don’t
overcharge electric appliances
- after all,
take more frequently your bycicle
