Over the Albert Canal
An industrial building is made of galvanised steel of the highest quality. Since the mid 90’s the steel is delivered by inland vessel through the Albert Canal. Since most of our steel suppliers are situated near waterways, road transport is fully excluded. Frisomat has its own discharging quay at the canal, from here on the coils are directly transported into the production hall. Into this production hall the coils are stored until they have to serve for the production of an industrial building.
Why does Frisomat chooses for inland shipping for the shipment of the raw materials for its industrial buildings ? The reason is simple, by building up a stock we can anticipate very quickly on the demands of our customers.

Advantages inland shipping
An inland vessel can transport as much as 50 trucks or 40 wagons. A 1350t inland navigation vessel consumes 4 to 7 times less fuel pertonne-kilometre than a truck. Shipping is therefore the most appropriate way of transport for the raw materials of our steel constructions. This has a positive impact on the environment as well as less nuisance for the neighbours. Frisomat is fully aware of the fact that ecology is an important topic in the world of industrial buildings. This is why Frisomat wants to be a green manufacturer of steel constructions.
