Mega aircraft hangar doors in Spain

Frisomat recently built a 500m² helicopter hangar in Albacete, Spain, meant to accommodate several emergency helicopters. These helicopters have to be employable at any time, and must therefore be kept in a close and safe environment. For a swift use of the helicopters, wide hangar doors were one of the requirements.

Innovators in large hangar doors

Frisomat specially designed a new type of hangar door. Able to provide a pre-engineered steel construction with hangar doors up to 35m wide and 9m high, Frisomat offers the ideal  
aircraft hangar door. The wing doors are overlapped when completely open and almost in a straight line when closed. Thanks to the ingenious rail system, the aircraft hangar doors are very light in operation. Built in the floor, the rail system does not obstruct when driving an aircraft in the helicopter hangar. No maintenance is needed to keep the hangar doorsrolling. The entire construction is galvanized to avoid corrosion and reinforced where necessary to support the hangar doors.

Since the entire industrial building is pre-engineered, each component is assembled at the construction site. This applies also for the large aircraft hangar doors. The hangar doors fit perfectly in a standard container for worldwide shipping. Thanks to the cold-rolled steel structure, the entire steel construction is lightweight. Thus reducing an important cost in shipping the hangar.

Aircraft hangars in Africa and Poland

In the spring of 2011 we shipped an 1.000m² aircraft hangar to Congo, Africa. This pre-engineered construction also accommodated helicopters and was equipped with extra large hangar doors, 22m wide. Pictures will follow.

In 2010 a 2.000m² aircraft hangar was built in Poland, once again serving to accommodate helicopters.
